BYJU’s have roped in Lionel Messi as their international brand ambassador.

BYJU’s have laid off 2500 employees which are close to 5% of their workforce.

What do you call it?

Irony.

Dichotomy.

Call whatever you feel like but that does not change this cringe mentality.

Upon being asked about this incident, Ms. Divya Gokulnath, co-founder of BYJU’s, talked about their ‘Education for all ’ initiative.

She is deeply saddened and anguished to see the negativity regarding the news.

As per her, a biggie like Messi is needed to promote their holy initiative ‘education for all.’

Messi had to be signed since his inclusion brings a lot of attention to the said initiative.

However, they had to fire their 5% workforce to achieve their profitability in the fourth quarter.

The rapid and inorganic growth in their workforce has supposedly created some inefficiencies and redundancies.

Employees are the biggest assets of a company.

Whatever they have achieved today is because of the workforce.

Now, they are roping in an international football icon amidst mass layoffs citing financial reasons.

A lot of companies like Meta, Twitter, etc. are laying off their employees.

None has created the stir as it did.

Sheer corporate bigotry is on display.

Please comment down below with your thoughts on it.
